ACON, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia man was charged with stealing an ambulance that was parked outside of a doctor's office and then leading police on a chase along a busy highway.
Macon Police charged 37-year-old Dennis Richard Green on Friday with automobile theft, reckless driving and eluding police. He also faces charges from the Georgia State Patrol of driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
Authorities say an off-duty Macon police officer spotted Green taking the ambulance around 2 p.m. Friday. Authorities said he hopped on I-75, exited at a busy off-ramp before jumping back on the highway. They say he eventually lost control of the ambulance and flipped it while trying to evade police.
Authorities chased Green on foot and arrested him in the woods near a ravine.
