MPG display and idling

2015 SI Sedan owner here.

I noticed that every time I come to a full stop, the instant fuel economy display goes down to 0.0L/100KM which basically indicates that no fuel is being burned.

Does the SI have a built-in technology to help save fuel while idling by any chance?

If not, I just hope the computer does account for situations where the car idles, or else the MPG display's value would be way off from accurate in case you get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for quite some time.

Any experience with this?

If the car is on, you're burning fuel. It's also just a gauge, and I've seen it be 10% plus or minus wrong at the end of a tank. If you're interested, reset your trip meter next time you fill up completely.

If you drive 300 miles and then do a fill up of 10 gallons next time, you got 30mpg on that tank.

300/10= 30mpg. That is the only true way to accurately check mpg.
