Paint Warranty Question

My 2014 is a month old and has only 2,000 miles on it. The cracked area is on the front bumper, on the lower passenger's side. When I washed my car a week ago they were not there. I have not hit anything and, as far as I know, nothing has hit me. Are spider web cracks covered under warranty? I looked in my owner's warranty manual, but only found issues pertaining to rust. I also looked online, hoping I would find something from the 8th gen - nothing. The service department here is closed, so perhaps someone can chime in from experience. Or even a service tech can give me an answer. Don't take a guess...

I understand the whole wear and tear aspect making paint defects hard to cover under warranty, but this is BS. My 2012 was put through hell during the two winters I had it and the paint was in excellent condition when I traded it in.
 
Something definitely made contact with the bumper to get that kind of damage. Bad news is I highly doubt the dealership would give you the time or day if you claim that unless youre on good terms/connection with them.
 
I had the same spider webs appear on our 8th after we had the bumper repaired at a body shop after we hit a deer. The body shop would not cover it because they said those spots only appear because of an impact and the plastic bumper bent more than the flex additive in the paint would allow. Not sure if it was true because we didn't hit anything but who knows what happens when the car is parked on public lots.

Bottom line is that it's going to be hard to get them to cover it. It's worth a shot though.
 
That doesn't look good. Honda did make a 7 or 8 year warranty on paint defects for 8thgens so they might do the same for yours if it is proven as a paint defect. Did it crack all the way through the paint (showing primer)?

If the 7 or 8 year "warranty" you're referring to is ResistAll I may be covered. I had to get a dent repaired already and the ResistAll covered it. The cracks are very light, I want to say it's just the clear coat.
 
Nope, it's a manufacture extended warranty covered by American Honda. I have no idea what ResistAll is. Lol.

It's a protectant package of some sort for the interior and exterior. The financial advisor I dealt with explained what it is, but I forget most of what's covered and I still have yet to get the details in the mail. It was free for all returning customers for the month of April.

I remember seeing that service bulletin for the 8th gen.
 
So technically, it should be covered since you have a paint protecting package. It will be hard to determine that you hit something if the bumper doesn't have a deformation or if the paint didn't get damaged all the way to the plastic surface. Hopefully, it does get covered.
 
Really does look like an impact spot. I had an accident with a deer as well, and it put spots like that on my bumper.

I hate to admit it but the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was that something must have come in contact with your car.
It's hard to imagine why the paint would just start cracking like that on its own but then again I'm no expert.
Good luck with getting it sorted out. I totally know how upsetting it is when your car has issues.
 
Although it's on a slightly different topic, my 2012 si goes into the shop tomorrow because crows feet have shown up on the hood. It happened when I waxed the car this month. The dealership is sending it out basically no questions asked.
 
It's too bad you don't have crows feet. Then they'd have to fix it along with the other damage.
 
The service advisor that looked at it said repair wouldn't be covered, not even with ResistAll. He said impact was on the bottom side of the bumper cover; something pushed the bottom of the cover up causing the affected area to bow out and spider web. He told me if I wanted a quote for repair to go to the dealer's body shop. From what I have read, the proper way to repair spider web cracks is to strip and repaint otherwise they may reappear. I'm going to get a quote from the shop that painted my UAE bumper, maybe they'll give me a deal as a returning customer.

At least it just a strip and repaint and not having to do any sheet metal work. The bumper can be removed quite easily and fixed.
 
Looks like rubber roadkill damage.. (truck tire debris in the road) They stick up just enough to tap the front bumper from the lower edge. and leave no scuff marks too.
