Police camera spots meteor soaring across sky
Rather than the usual speeding motorist, a police car dashboard camera in the US caught something slightly more unusual hurtling past - a bright light that aviation officials confirmed was a meteor.
The bright light filmed falling across the night sky in the US state of Texas was caught on camera by a police car during a traffic stop on Wedneday night.
US Federal Aviation officals later confirmed the bright light was a meteor
The light was seen by witnesses in Texas and, to the north, in parts of Oklahoma and Kansas.
A meteor is a particle broken off from an asteroid or comet orbiting the Sun that burns up as it enters the Earth's atmosphere, creating the effect of a "shooting star".
