R18 engine noise (?)

Hi All,

I have a '13 Civic EX AT bought brand new last year. I recently notice a tick/knock-like sound during idle while car is parked in our garage. I can say that the tick/knock-like sound seems to be not in sync with the engine's rpm.

Car is still under warranty, with 30% oil life as per MM. Please note of the tick/knock-like sound on the video below. You might want to use a headset/earphone on this. It is most pronounced between 5 and 8 s mark of the video.





Any thoughts on what might this be, and if this needs to be checked asap if it is indeed an issue?

Was it the two successive short clicks?

I'd vote normal, not to worry........
I've heard that on most cars, it's more noticeable on newer cars, because the engines are quieter so it's easier to hear the finer sounds.......
I'd say tappets.
