Just wondering if anybody has any input on swapping the LX's rear brake drum for an Si rear disc brake? From what I know, disc brakes are better in general, and they look better IMO. If anyone has tried this or sees any problem with doing it any input would be appreciated!

I've not seen it done but it shouldn't be too difficult. I did intergra rear disks on an ek hatch and it was very simple.

It could be done. You'd just need to remember that you need the room to clear the new rotors/calipers on your wheel setup.

What about the ABS? Does anything need to happen there?
If you're looking to upgrade to rear discs I would recommend looking into the EX disc setup. The brakes will be better matched to the fronts on the LX as both EX/LX share the same front brakes. Someone more knowledgeable might chime in but I believe there is a proportioning valve that helps control the amount of brake force sent to F/R. Having the EX setup would probably help keep this in a more proper range than swapping to the Si.
Unless the rotors and calipers are the same between the EX/Si. The mounting points might also be different. I know the front knuckle on the Si is different to accomodate the larger front rotor.

On the 8th gen, there were a few users who did it. They said the abs unit was a direct swap...from say the EX to the LX.

I guess i could see if anyone has upgraded their brakes already and looking to sell.

I think it should be okay, unless the rear sticks out more or something. The wheels I have on are a little concaved, so there is plenty of space between the front wheels and their brakes.

I guess I should say...the fronts are larger. The rears would be 10.2" on both
si = 11.8" / 10.2" Ventilated front disc/ Solid rear disc brakes
dx/lx = 10.3" / 7.9" Ventilated Front Disc/Rear Drum Brakes
ex/ ex-l = 10.3" / 10.2" Ventilated Front Disc/Solid Rear Disc Brakes
si = 11.8" / 10.2" Ventilated front disc/ Solid rear disc brakes

Ah nice. Either should work then since they are the same size. See which car you can find in a junkyard to pull parts from. new is prohibitively expensive. You will need to replace all of the rear brake lines as well. That is a part you might want to buy new. Disc and drum lines are different.

Like webby said, you may just have to swap the ABS sensor unit thingy. Buy one from an EX model. You're probably going to be the first to try it so you might run into a couple issues. Overall I don't think it's impossible though.
