is this really a thing? ive seen some youtubers claim it but its usually click bait.

couldnt imagine spending that kind of money and not being able to do what ever i wanted.

Yeah, there are lots of articles and things talking about Ferrari's "rules" of ownership that you have to agree to in order to buy a car from them. Pretty much the only way around it is to buy one from a 3rd party but then it loses all resale value and Ferrari will pretty much ignore you if you need/want something. But, the Deadmou5 one was a big deal when it broke as unless you were in that inner circle of Ferrari owners, most folks didn't know Ferrari's rules existed.

Another crazy one is what they (Ferrari) expect you to do (typically annually) in order to make it onto their 'good' list (attend various events, drive your car, etc.) to be able to buy some of their more select cars (and, that doesn't really scratch the surface of what you need to do in order to get on the list to have the opportunity to buy one of their more limited production cars). Basically, you can't just walk into a Ferrari dealer with a briefcase of cash and walk out with the keys to what ever car you want until you're an approved Ferrari owner.
