Did you buy it new, or could this be caused by someone else....... Riding the clutch, or just resting the foot on the pedal when not in use can cause clutch issues. I've had a multitude of cars with over 100k on them and never had to replace a clutch, etc. ?????
Basically what @Bulkybear said. Smoke/burning smell/slippage all usually occur together in some degree. My brand new clutch wont grab good when I've been hard on it but usually just a few minutes of cruising cools it down to work fine again. Could also be the 95 degree weather heat soaking the motor. I've only smelt clutch when it broke in the first 500 miles.
