Since I have my car torn apart to finish a stereo install, I have decided to do some soundproofing.

I would like to hear some people's input on their experiences and what they have used in the past or presently. Right now I am looking at DynaMat, FatMat, Stinger, GTMat, and I have been perusing the suggestions on Sound Deadener Showdown.

I've never used it, but I know of people who've used dynomat with good results. Anything specific question wise?

Not really. Just looking for experiences. How do the brands compare? How easy/hard is installation? Places to actually put it. Places to avoid putting it. Multiple layers in spots? And of course thoughts on the addition of weight. Tips & Tricks. Etc, etc, etc.

Yeah, I have read some stuff where people use this stuff or something similar. The car audio stuff and this are just butyl. The only complaints people seem to have with the home improvement store stuff is a heavy odor and the quality of the adhesive for vertical installation.
 
May go with the Audio Technix stuff. Seems to be well reviewed based on some searching. That and I would rather not take a chance on the home improvement store stuff.
 
dont go too crazy bro because i did none and i get no rattle from tunk or anything but the way did my sounds all the bass comes into the car from the trunk with a 5 inch port hole ... what i did notice was i did the same setup on my boys sedan and he gets CRAZY rattle because the sedans trunks have more parts so i had to remove stuff and put sound deadning spray which works well its light and can cover places where dynamat cant plus dynamat is heavy as sh*t bro you dont wanna use that on an SI .

also plastidip works wonders in that department too just gotta lay it on thicker than normal and if the car ever gets traded in or sold all that peels right off :thumbsup:

also sound deadning spray is undercoating spray with a different label so thought you guys should know that which you can get cheaper at any auto place :D

so in all
coupe lil to no deadning matierial
Sedan definitly will need some and no garantee it will take all rattle away

and it wouldnt hurt to put somthing behind the license plate too

I am more interested in reducing the cabin noise in general, not just for stereo acoustic qualities.
 
its basically the same thing man it all just comes down to what matierial you wanna use .
cabin noise i really dont notice untill i jump on the highway then you get that wind crap coming from the doors which annoys me ...honda could have done better with that part
but if i was gonna do it id pick palstidip or deadning spray on the doors and rear panels
that way everything clips back on with no problem and will not look like you did anything and lays on thinner so it will show no gapping from car to actual plastic panel

but id spray the actual door and the inside of the plastic piece that was taken off if you really want a good deadning
but highway noise i think its more of weather stripping on the doors ...honda didnt do such a great job with that

my fiance's jeep cabin sound better than mine because if you look at the bottom of the outside door on the coupe it kinda goes in where the aero dynamics is that where the problem is ...it lets all the air from there instead of a complete flat door which lines up with the rest of the car ..
but id start with the door and anything around it because thats where the main noise comes from .
