Squiggy and Spidergirl's Annual Halloween Movie Fest!

ANOTHER BELATED POST

Day 5: Sweet Sweet Lonely Girl
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5207320/

Another Shudder exclusive. This one was recommended by the curator for its jump scares. LIES! There was maybe one. This movie was definitely not my cup of tea. I read a lot of good reviews but I just couldn't get behind it. It was slow and there was no decent payoff (in my opinion). If you do watch it, watch past the credits though because there is one very short scene after, which supposedly makes the movie...but whatever. I am throwing my hands up at this one.

Day 6: Monster Party
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6556576/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

This Shudder exclusive was filmed in only 17 days and has a 75% kill rate with 18 of 24 cast members biting the dust.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Was it amazing? No. But...it has a lot going for it. A decent cast, some gore, some campiness, some one-liners, and some twists.

Day 7: Host
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12749596/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Based on a prank the director pulled on his friends. After the original video went viral online, he approached Shudder about making an actual film. Even though the film was scripted, the actors were encouraged to improvise. Parts of the script were redacted so the cast didn't know what would happen. Certain things were pre-recorded and played back for the cast to get their genuine reactions.

I am impressed with the end product considering this was done completely during the pandemic. The setting is great and oh so familiar considering what everyone has been going through these past few months. The fact that it's 57 minutes long is perfect and goes with the theme. Some of the characters are a bit cliche, but there are some decent jump scares, some tension, and a little gore. There was one thing I didn't completely agree with, but it's just me nit picking. So...if you watch it, let's talk. ;) I don't want to give anything away.

You don’t have to post pics if you don’t want, or list ones you enjoyed the most? I haven’t watched anything this year and that’s sad.

I watched Blair witch project today. Don’t know why I was so afraid when I was a kid.

I remember sitting on the steps in the theater because it was so packed. They oversold all 3 shows that we’re going on and I didn’t want to miss out while my friends were watching. So I sat on the steps rather than a seat.
