Hey guys,

so my only mod so far is the K&N intake. The other day my 13 si made a weird noise and completely lost engine power (check engine light came on) after i pulled away from a toll booth and would not start until about 5 hours later. When it finally started up the engine was shacking like crazy; I gave it some gas and drove it around a parking lot in 1st gear and reverse slowly. It then finally stopped shacking. I took out the intake and now the engine runs fine. My dealer could not read any codes. I am thinking its the MAF sensor not working properly but I do not have any way to know for sure atm.

Has anyone heard of/ run into a similar problem? I dunno if I should put my intake back in or not. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

Can't say for sure what your situation is/was, but the tiniest piece of debris on the maf sensor wires (internally) can cause all of those symptoms. Have also heard of rocker arm failures in 2013 si motors. Actually the snap ring that holds the VTEC piston in place fails and the piston could jamb against the adjacent rocker arm, locking them together or fall out entirely.

if everything is peachy after going back to stock... wouldn't you say it had to do with the maf?

Did the battery completely lose power too?

Try reinstalling the K&N and check your connections. Did you do the relearning process the 1st time you installed the intake?

Battery disconnect and 15 min idle after install. Im thinking about returning thr KN and getting a takeda instead actually. But im still worried cuz stalling out on the high way is not something i want to go through again any time soon lol

THat's true. But that is the first time I've heard such an occurrence.
