Hey guys,

as I was leaving my house this morning my brakes sqeaked really loudly...now I dont know if its because of the cold and the moisture over night? And also I have noticed that the stock brakes really are not that great...anyone have any opinons on rotors or pads I should get to upgrade them? Because when you hit vtec, being able to stop is a pretty big deal ha:driving:

I'll be biased.

Get Stoptech brake pads, Centric Parts (Powerslot) blank rotors, SS steel brake lines, and Motul DOT4 brake fluid. :D The Stoptech Pads/Centric Parts rotors are cheapest at Rockauto.com.

What do u mean by turntable?
I was thinking he meant turn-a-ble............
What I've heard, like in a sentence. "These rotors are getting grooved, can you turn them for me?"

Hey dennis,

If you can lock up your tires or have the abs come on then the stock brakes have plenty of bite. The weak point is usually the tires. Once they start to lock then the brakes have overcome the braking limit of the rubber. Track sessions are another story where heat and extended use can definitely overwhelm the stock system.

The squeal could be just from surface rust that formed overnight or like you said - combination of cold and moisture. Did they noise go away after a few stops or does it still happen?

Also are you looking for more braking force? Just better pedal feel? Shorter braking distance? Certainly the stock rotors are pretty decent but a more aggressive brake shoe compound can increase brake force. I'm currently on some PBR/AXXIS ultimates and they grab really hard if you push the pedal with some force. They are also pretty resistant to fade from heat. They are dirty/dusty/and a little noisy though.

I added SS lines and I think the brakes are excellent, even with the stock pads.im getting mgp covers to help with the brake dust.I didn't want to paint, and now they have stealth black out versions, hopefully I'll have them next week.

Yeah I have decided its just the rust formed over night because it goes away after a few stops..I will however probably upgrade the lines and paint the calipers

@bobshur - dude, ive been considering those mgp guards for a while. you have to take pics and do a quick write up for us. im really curious how they are in person.

I wouldn't ever spend that much on that normally, but the black out model is badass and I like the dust loss I will post pics for sure, I really didn't want to paint
