Hey I was wanting to get some opinions on what people thought about this car. I test drove one yesterday and liked the way it drove and everything. I liked everything about it to be honest. I got a price for $33K out the door for one with the moonroof option and a few other small options, the sticker price was $35,472. Just curious if anyone here has ever owned one. Also is there another suv someone would recommend over this one for around the same price? Was also approved for their 1.9% financing.

I would get a Subaru Outback before I got a Tribeca. No real reason. I like the highlander, hyundai/kia and pilot as well.

do you want 3 rows of seating? I know there were a number of reports that the tribeca was going to be cut from subaru's lineup due to low sales. I remember it being listed as a top safety pick for 2012. I believe consumer reports made a number of comparisons between the outback & tribeca. I think they made complaints over gas mileage 16/21 when the outback was rated 24/31.

Yeah I would like the 3rd row and the mileage was my biggest complaint on it. I haven't really looked at the outback too much maybe I will take a look.

I have a 2011 Pilot mileage isn't wonderful but it makes up for that in room and tank like abilities in foul weather. The subies lack the room for a family with 2.5 kids and gear. Don't get me wrong subies are built tough and can handle foul weather just a little bit on the small side..

Wait til Earthdreams Pilot. Lol.

Thanks for the input. After talking to the wife, she would rather have extra space to put things than have extra seats. We are trying to start a family at this time also, which means she wants more room to put all the baby stuff. After looking at the outback, I gotta say I like it also. I called up my friend, who is trying to sell me this vehicle, and he said he could work a better deal on the outback also. Also got a quote on insurance and it will only be $48 more a month to add the outback versus $68 for the tribeca. Not to mention the extra gas mileage on the outback.

very nice... I'd say drive the cvt and other transmission options and see which one you like the best.

From looking online it only offers the CVT and manual and having bad knees I am wanting the auto.

well, I wasn't sure if you were getting the 3.6liter or 2.4l. The 3.6 comes in an auto (non-cvt).

sorry 2.5Liter.. not 2.4 as I wrote above. Good luck with the purchase.

Did I hear Subaru?! :giggle:

Good Luck with whatever you do!

Thanks just waiting on the wife now. We test drove both the 4cyc and the 6 cyc liked the both just can't decided on which one

Would you ever be towing something with it?

Actually not a big difference

Outback 2012
4 cylinder 2.5i, XT- 2700 pounds with trailer brakes, 1000 w/o brakes,
Hard towing 1350lbs

CVT transmission- if towing replace the CVT oil 24855 miles

6 cylinder 3.6L, 3.0L: 3000lbs with trailer brakes, 1000 w/o brakes, hard towing 1500lbs
