Just a random question I thought up while driving today. If you were to drive on wet/ icy roads with cruise control, would TCS prevent hydroplaning?

You never want to run cruise in rain or wet/icy conditions. Even if tc came into play, the car isn't disabling cruise. The time it takes to cancel it, or hit the brakes could mean it's too late. Only way to prevent hydroplaning is to slow down the vehicle speed

That's what I thought. I know plenty well to never drive with cruise during inclement weather. Most of the rollovers I go to each winter are the result of cruise control and ice. I was just curious if TCS would prevent the wheel spin that causes hydroplaning.

Well. technically TC will not stop hydroplaning, it could try to control the traction, but it's not going to make the tires touch the pavement.
So we're back to what @webby said.
Speed & tread depth are the 2 main sources that help keep it from hydroplaning. Weight in most case won't help either.
