Type of primer to use on the plastic chrome trim ?

Guys getting my chrome pieces painted at a shop. Now I know for that material u need to use etching primer so the paint will stick. But the guy said he's gonna use a flex primer so it absorbs rock chips and stuff. Is that primer ok to use on the chrome plastic trim I don't want it peeling or flaking. Thanks in advance.

i dont know what would stick to that chrome stuff. i would wrap it in vinyl but thats just me.

The special primer that etches in into the plastic. But this shop says he's gonna use flex primer.
