Hi guys,

I don't know if this is the right place. Please move it if necessary.

I found out that I am unable to buckle one of the rear seat belt on my 2012 LX. It is not "clicking in".

Can it be fixed myself? Can I buy replacement parts and replace it myself?

Just called the dealer and dealer said bring it in to check first. If a replacement is needed, it will include, parts/labor/diagnostic fees. Ridiculous.Thanks

Please help.

The way you worded this, is that you've never tried using it before, and now you found that it doesn't work.
Is this correct?
I'm guessing that it's just a mm from not clicking. Have you tried pushing with some force?
As far as being charged for it, it's not the best customer service, but they're probably not bound due to lack of coverage. If they won't fix it free, then contact the Honda home office and ask them how they want to deal with it, and that the people on your Civic forum are interest.
Also, is it something you want to use, or is it just a fluke you noticed it?

Yes, you are all correct, Monk.
I've never tried using it when I bought it as a pre-owned for years until I tried putting my baby car seat.
I did force it in attempt to "click in" but no avail. I feel like it looses and do not hear the "click in" sound.
And I don't think they will fix it for free. When I call them, the dealer sounds like they are trying to rip a few hundreds out of portion.
Well, I will pay but not like what the dealer said, "120 diagnostic fee + parts + an hour labor".

2012 civics have a 15yr/150k mile warranty from honda on seat belt function. If it's not functioning, it's covered under warranty for free repair.

Great going Mr. @webby, ........... looks like your fix is easy(just wrap a towel around it to stop the overspray). I kind of had a idea it was something that simple(having worked with a lot of parachute harnesses, in my past).
That's good to know about the warranty, as well.

@webby
Thank you Webby for your information. Do you happen to know where it shows about such warranty?
Apparently, I may have got ripping off if I have not asked here.
That's very good to know.

@Monk
I will try the WD40 with the flat head screw driver tomorrow.

Thank you guys. Will let you know how it goes.

Any chance you're trying to connect the right-side outboard buckle to the center latch?
My memory is it won't, so you can't cross-connect the passenger and center belts when both positions are occupied.

I was gonna say, I thought seatbelts had a crazy long warranty! Your car is definitely new enough to have them replace it.
