I was trying to find a thread to post this in but thought this needed it's own thread. It's VERY touching!
This was the title of the picture: "dad died last August he was my best friend, just got this yesterday. it was his actual hand print."
Here is some details the guy posted:
Damn guys…I did not expect anything like this at all, I simply wanted to share this with a few random strangers!! Ill try to address all the big questions all at once! And thank you all so much! You all brought a tear to my eye and a laugh to my heart! And this is my first and probably only tattoo

- When we were at the funeral home they told us we could get a thumb print on a pendent, so after we got home (this is all shortly after my dad died) I called the funeral home and asked if they could get a print of his hand, and after a LONG pause he said he could. What I believe the guy at the funeral home did was roll ink on my dad’s hands and press it to a piece of paper, there were 4 or 5 prints and this was the best one.
- Yes this is actually one day later for the tattoo, I got it Monday the 29th started just after 1pm got done around 3, no outline just all at once, so I guess it was all shading. The picture was taken around 4pm today the 30th…and if im wolverine that would be SWEET!!!! But not to my knowledge…
- My father died when I was 21 and every big decision up to that point in my life he was either a part of, or I thought of him when making the decision so in a sense he was always with me, and I recently found a note saying at the end “and may there always be an angel on your shoulder” im not a religious person….so some people have an angel I have my father
- It is not a mourning thing, some of my fondest and most fun memories are with him, and I feel like it will always help me make the “right” decision
- I didn’t plan it for Memorial Day, but it just happened to land on that day and he was a vet. Things just fell into place beautifully!!!
- Im pretty new to posting on reddit so not sure how to cross this over to /r/tattoos unless I just repost it over there, any help?
- Feel free to take the idea just one thing…..remember me that’s a joke but I thought it appropriate!
- The biggest thing….i love him!
