I'm looking to have a quad retrofit setup done for my 2014 civic si sedan I'm wanting advice on which projectors to go with, I want to be able to run morimoto xb35 6000k 50 watt kits in all projectors and I was wanting to run the ds2 3.0 projectors in both lows and highs but I've been told that the ds2 would be a tough fit in the high housings and that mini h1s would probably be the only ones to fit, and I would be fine with doing a quad mini h1 setup but I heard they can only run 35watt kits, anybody think I could run a ds2 3.0 quad setup, or would I have to run a mini in the highs on 35watts and run a ds2 in lows on 50watts or even a fxr 3.0 in lows thanks

Yea I want to run the ds2 quad so I can run 50 watt kits instead of 35watt kits that I would have to run with the mini h1s I'm planning on having it done by a local retrofitter and he acted like it wasn't a big deal but don't think he has much experience with civics

minis are 88mm wide without the shroud
d2s minis are 104mm wide without the shroud. After seeing that, I don't think it's possible.

If you're dead set on doing a quad, do a quad mini h1 setup. Or, do a low beam d2s & a high beam mini h1. You're more likely to make that happen without the retrofitter doing a ton of cutting your stock headlights. How often do you run your highs?

Well I'm planning to buy some different headlights so I don't use the stock ones I comute 80 miles a day mostly highway at 3 am morning as I work nights so I use my highs often how much trimming would need done and would it be the reflector bowl

If the mini h1s could run 50 watt hits I would run them but they cant , is there any other bi xenon projectors I could run in highs that would fit easier and be able to run 50watt morimotos

55w bulbs aren't that much different from 35w bulbs in all honesty. Bulbs will also last shorter periods of time on the 55w.

nothing is comparable to the mini h1's. I did this comparison for another member months back to illustrate size.

======
Furthest distance from the absolute rear to the absolute front of the lens ~ 129.92mm
(pic is deceiving - but this is the full distance from front to back despite what this photo portrays)

Actual distance that will be inside your headlight assembly - 112.64mm
The remaining distance will be actually through the hole in your stock headlight housing and secured with the provided hardware.

widest point on the projector ~78.52mm

^ that should illustrate the size difference between a bixenon projector and the mini bixenon. Not all projectors are as big as the TL, but the minis are small.

Thanks man for the info I'll probably be best running a mh1 in highs on 35watts then running a ds2 in the lows on 50watts? Do u think that would be a good setup or even run the fxr in lows on 50watts since there better performers I just want them to work good and look good together since they will be running at the same time and also having 50 watts run with 35watts

Like we were discussing via PM I would recommend going to with the Mini D2S 6K with 50w and the Mini H1 35w with 5K, that will give you the same color output. The FX-R and Mini D2S are on par with each other as far as performance so in this application it would be best to go with the Mini D2S since it is going to be a easier install.

Thank you for the help yes that sounds like what I will go with what would the reason be to run a 6000k and a 5000k

Well when you run 50w ballasts it over powers the bulb which shifts the Kelvin down. So a 6k is going to output like a 5k

Yeah something like that. Just so you know the higher the Kelvin the less usable light output you actually have.
