Paging @jrotax101 , paging @jrotax101 :

What else needs attention?
How much do you have to spend? lol
I think jrotax and a lot of other people had the oil pump nut welded on.

Negative because when the oil pump fails you're ******.
I did the wire. Buy the correct tool and learn how to use the tool before attempting. Check oil pickup tube for cracks while in there.

Im not sure how much I want to spend, but I'll spend as I go. I'll read through the service manual to see what I'll need for this job.

Thanks. I had a very good deal on the car so I took the plunge and bought it. I've been wanting to own an old RWD car and the E36 was one of my choices.

I changed the spark plugs.

I also noticed oil on the old plugs. Oil is seeping through the spark plug o ring gaskets. So I ordered a valve cover gasket.

I also stripped the doors down since the door panels are falling apart.

This $15 shift knob came in today. It looks good and very factory looking.

I also changed the water pump.

The factory water pump has a composite impeller that can get worn out and break causing it to not spin.

I received the oil pan gasket and oil pump nut w/ safety wire today. The safety wire pliers will be delivered tomorrow.

But I won't be able to work on the car until next Thursday since I'll be on vacation. When I get back, there will be more goodies waiting for me.

I had time to work on replacing the valve cover gasket. Two studs broke so I'll have to replay those.

The camshaft looks to be in a great shape for a motor with 171k miles.

Are you going to get rid of the red color in the valve cover?
Yep. Since there are two broken studs, I'll have to take the valve cover out again. Im planning on painting it a wrinkle black color. The person who did the paint job did a terrible job. The paint is flaking off.
