I've been saving up for a radar detector for a few months now and was thinking about getting the Valentine One but wanted to check to see if any of y'all had owned one or had any other suggestions. Looking to drop no more than $400. Thanks!

Most of the time? haha, talking about the v1?
Lmao he was talking about his eyes.
I never need one in NYC because cops suck at hiding here, however, when I go out to another state, the highways are much darker and cops can really creep up on you sometimes.
I need to do more research on these!
Let us know what you end up getting and if its any good lol

Skipped lunch to pick this bad boy up. Snacking on peanut butter and cheese crackers as I type. Initial setup:Confusing. My lunch break is not long enough to watch the hour and a half worth of youtube videos requited to understand how to use this thing. Will keep you guys posted.

I have one of those as well in my wife's car. Even sitting on the console, it works well (and the Speed Trap/Red Light Camera/Speed Camera database is great).

The first thing to do is go to the Valentine site and enter the serial number to see if it qualifies for an update. You have to enter the serial number and then the build date is checked and, for around $100 you can ship it to Valentine and it will be updated to the latest version. I used a V1 for a long time (get the remote display, it's worth the few dollars it costs). With the remote, the detector remains dark, and the remote does all of the display work. Keeps people behind you "in the dark" that you have a radar detector at night.

You can go with the defaults for a while. BTW, did you ask the person selling it why they wanted to sell it?

Has anyone had the beltronics 300/500, escort passport 9500ix, or valentine one?

And would you say these are the best for the price? I know I could get one thats more than a grand but 300-500 is my range

I ended up buying one brand new from the Valentine1 Website. I have it set up now, I just haven't seen any cops yet to see if it works well. I'll probably give it about a week and let you guys know what it's up to.

I'll let you know in about a week how the valentine is. So far I really like it, but again, I've only had it for like a day.
