I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to tire repair. So I am asking you guys if this type of puncture is usually repairable.20130615_192129.jpg

That's what I've always heard, I've been lucky. This is my first time dealing with a puncture.

I had one repaired in the side like that. Maybe the nail was 1/4 of an inch higher, but a tire shop plugged it no problem. I would take a picture for ya, but I sold those tires with my old rims. I would take that in and have it plugged. Costs very little.

That sucks. Like Kenny gs said , usually sidewall punctures mean new tire. Try what Pauly said , you never know.

After doing some more reading it seems that doing a side wall repair can be hazardous....especially if you drive you car hard in turns etc. One guy remarked that he lost tire pressure and had a gaping hole shortly after having it plugged. Yet other drivers have said that they have plugged the side wall and had no issues at all. This seems to be a bit of a gamble......with your safety on the line. Conclusion: Buy a new tire.

I sold my cheap Firestones that my car came with. Can't remember what kind I have now....they came with the rims that I wanted and bought used. They seems to grip the raod really well though. :)

There are lots of threads about tires here though....I'm no expert that's for sure. I like cool looking tires with a good name. :giggle:

Pauly, yours are the General G-Max AS03. I had a look when I babysat them.

I'd stay with what you have(buying a new tyre) until you're ready to buy 4 new ones. As the insider posted.

We had to buy one new tire for our 2009 Civic about a month ago. Luckily there was only about 5K on them so one new one of the same make and model of tire was easy enough to find. That's what I would suggest to do as well. No sense in taking a chance with your tire.

I am buying a set for the rear on Monday, just doing my homework on the tires though.
