I lost a male Molly this past weekend. I checked the water and all is well. It looks like one of my females is getting weak now. I picked up 3 ghost shrimp and a female golden gourami on Friday only to have to separate her into a fry net/cage due to injury. It appears my formerly sweet and social Opaline Gourami has turned into a harassing bully. He's bitten off half of her tail and lower fin. He's chasing the mollies and platys and guarding his food like a hungry dog. I've been feeding them more just to make sure they get their share and saw that the one female Molly is doing better. He's being such a turd that all the other fish are scared of him.

He's been separated from the others for now. If we let him loose, he goes right for her. All the other fish seem happier and more energetic with him gone though.

This may change in the future if you keep them seperated. He may be making the moves on her :leghump: and she is not mature enough to pair off. So him being a male he gets mad:flame:(BB) and takes out his fustrations through being a bully. Again it really depends on the specific fish.

I thought maybe it'd be easier of I got another female that way the energy and attention would be split between the two but my little 20gallon can't handle that many gouramis.

So after telling my boyfriend I was going to put some egg crate down in the tank and bond the rocks together, my boyfriend decided to take it upon himself to "shake test" the tank with near gorilla strength. This loosened the rocks and made it so unstable that I tried to fix it.

I failed. I'm so upset now.

This is the hot mess that is my tank. Granted, there are lots of caves but I think it looks like total crap. Opinions?

Go to home depot or lowes and get a tube of GE silicone I. It is the same stuff they use for the seals on the aquarium. you would have to glue them together outside of the tank, then let them cure for 72 hours before placing in the aquarium. There is also AquaStick epoxy that dries a purplish color for matching coralline algae that a lot of reef keepers use. The aquastick can cure wet and underwater.

The actual plastic bracing is holding the panes together. The silicone between the glass is harder to replace since you will need two people to get it set up properly. The inside seam that I redid is basically holding the water to the insides while the silicone between the glass is the back up. If you lay the bead thick the outside seam wont matter.

Dear Santa, all I want for christmas is a few gift cards to use on aquarium stuff and for the tank in the living room to finish cycling so I can finally put fish in it. 6 weeks of staring at rocks and moving water is getting boring.

Merry Christmas.

My EBJD is spending a lot of time sitting on top of a rock and really lethargic. It's so difficult to get him to eat. I just don't know what to do anymore.
The gold severum and calico convict in the tank are doing great....
Any ideas Flippercon?

Just poured some garlic stuff on some frozen bloodworms and started feeding them to him with chopsticks. He's very happy with that and has been stalking the bottom of the tank for any leftovers. Most movement I've seen out of him in weeks.

Just took these

This guy was smaller than our EBJD and is now more than double the size. He grew very quickly. We also believe this Calico Convict named Callum is actually a Callie. She's been laying eggs on our flat rock.

The unlikely pair that we were terrified to put together...david and goliath LOL (Callum & Severus)
