Full rebuild

thankfully far as this week the bottom end parts list is completely ready to assemble

will say there’s an actual reason why this motor went and happy to notice the difference of what went wrong over time

from left to right the chain drive sprocket, to sprocket keyway, to crank keyway, all broke or chipped

that itself may call for further elaboration, but just to throw it out there for now it doesn’t matter what looks fine you never really know what to expect when things like this happen to cause total motor failure

with that just glad to see things are coming along nicely

then of course last night never having to install pistons before bent the set of oil groove rings on cylinder 1

no wall or piston damage

but now to wait for an entire set of rings just to replace one

Ouch! Hope those come in soon. Rebuild looks pretty challenging. I think I'd like to do one, but I'd have to just get an old b18 or a k series to try out on...

think this threads come to a halt. will start a part 2 eventually with a more put together progression of the build all together.

Did something happen? Rings arrive?

they did with all 4 pistons in finally. unfortunately crankshaft that came in to replace was the wrong one. and only saying that due to a number of things, mainly the bolt holes for the crank sensor pulse plate were nonexistent. only purchased for the price and from a marine shop which come to find out is the exact same part number for a car and boat crankshaft. but they still aren’t the same. crazy discovery but now to order from an online source for oem replacement parts. there’s more to it but it’s one thing after the next almost finishing this build
