Need a good jack set

hey guys if anyone know a good floor jack and jack stand set with decent price please help me with that. 2 stands is enough.
 
Sears Craftsman or Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight is great since the prices are relatively low and their products are good quality.
 
DO NOT get the cheapest few Craftsman jacks. I have gone through a few of them in the past five years.
 
I had a craftsman one go on me, but I did have it for a while. It didn't see a lot of hard use though. It was mainly used for tire rotations. I saw some good reviews on harbor freight jacks, so that's what I'm using currently. No complaints at this point.
 
Just remember to use the stands when possible. I've read that leaving the car lifted on the jack itself will shorten the life of the jack itself. I cannot confirm/deny that, but it also makes sense in case the jack would fail that the stands be in place.

but I dont see stands with double locking on the site.

And it's surprisingly cheap compared to the other ones that were posted up. I'll tell my brother to get that since he just bought a house.
 
I've never actually used double locking stands. I just have regular stands. I've never run into any issues. I've seen some people mention throwing a spare tire under the car in case they'd ever have issues. That's if they had half the car in the air / no wheels on those wheels. Another option - ramps.

you can roll up on there, and have clearance to easily work. You can find those at walmart/auto stores as well.
 
Just my 2 cents, and its probably going to make your decision harder, but another thing to consider when making a decision on a jack is the weight of the jack itself.

Personally, I hate carrying my 40lb Craftsman jack to the track simply because of how heavy it is. Been meaning to replace it with something else... dunno why I haven't gotten around to it yet now that I think about it.

But if you care not about such things, then disregard.

That's what I got. Works great for me, but it is very very heavy
 
Stay away from their Aluminum jacks. I jacked up the front corner of my Pickup (granted it is a 99 F350 with the 7.3) and the wheel of the jack shot across the garage. Always go with a bigger jack than you need. I have the 3ton and have been using it for almost 10 years now and now problems. And remember to ALWAYS use Stands. The only thing keeping the jack up is a rubber o-ring. If that fails, bad things happen. Other then that, I have no problem with HF steel jacks. And get the big jack stands. It gives you more room under the car to work.
