25,000 suggested base price in British Pounds equals $40,517.50 US Dollars.

How many people would pay 40k plus taxes etc for a civic? There are a lot of car options in the 40k range.

Plenty of die hard Honda fans out there. These are the same people that spend the same amout on subaru and mitsus since Honda hasn't had a product comparable to these. Not really saying the R is a good comparison, but price point wise....ya know.

And....signed. I would love to have these on the lot.

wrx - 265hp awd / $26,790
sti - 305hp awd / $34,295
evo 290hp awd / $34,995

civic 280hp? fwd / $40,XXX?

I'm not saying there aren't avid fans who would pay for the R. I'm saying that it's unlikely that the number of people signing the petition would pony up and buy. Honda had tons of mugen civics from the 8th gen sit and sit on lots. One near me sat for 9 months and sold for like 6k under msrp because they weren't selling. It wasn't just near me either. There were threads on 8th where users were tracking down mugen civics that were selling for massive discounts because dealerships couldn't sell them. I understand the type r is a different car, but yea. 40k for a 280hp? FWD car is different from a $26-34k AWD car with similar power.

I saw one or two of these one I was in the UK back in 2011. Saw a few Si and one or two type-r ciivc. Man they look pretty cool but are kind of small. I did see one Renault Clio V6 which is a pretty rare sight now a days.

You get your money's worth, Civic outlasts all three of those.

STIs have a ringland failure haunting them. The interiors of both cars as well as the audio is very cheap. They do build a great suspension and motor.

:yeahthat: The interiors don't do it for me. I test drove an Evo, my head almost touched the roof and the front seats don't slide back far enough. I also test drove an Impreza, although it's not a WRX or STi performance-wise, the radio looked like it was taken out of my old 1997 Eclipse.
