Help need Installing system into LX

How do I ensure that I don't get that horrible thump sound when the system is turned on and no static sound in the speakers when there is no music playing? Do you know what I mean?

I'm not sure how to stop the "thump" but the static should be fixed by running the power wire as far away as possible from any speaker wire. Maybe some others have some more advice for this. I've never had any issues with either after installing mono amps and subs in any of my cars, though I'm still waiting for a fuse to connnect my 5 channel amp so we'll see if that changes

Ideally I would like to have two knobs to control the subwoofer output: Gain and Volume. Is this possible? If yes, do you have any suggestions what I should go with? They would need to be small enough to fit in this little compartment.

Yes, I know the fog light button is upside down. It was changed.

you would probably only need volume control. Once you tune your amp you should NOT turn the gain above the level you set it at as this could damage the sub. Also it will likely distort the sound if its too high. If you just use volume, then you can turn the sub up/down as req'd, eliminating the need for gain control. Thats my opinion. Also I'm not sure how one would go about remotely adjusting gain, i only have experience with the JL RBC and JL RLC

Thanks. Makes sense. I'll just stick to a volume knob then.
I'm wondering if I could make a plastic plate to go over that opening then cut a hole to have the knob sticking out.
@webby Ever seen anyone do this? How would the plate stay in position?

I've not seen it in that cubby.... but I've seen people put knobs pretty much all over the place

What do you think about this amp for my sub?

" Alpine V-12 bass engine digital 300watts"

Personally I think 300W is not enough power, especially for a type R sub. You will get a much better response with that compared to the 5 channel amp, but you're still only at half the RMS power using that amp. If possible a 500W amp would be the minimum power i recommend. I had an Alpine MRP-M500 for my last two setups (used the same amp in two cars) and it was perfect!! 500W at 2 ohms. You should see if you can find something comparable to that. From what I remember it was fairly inexpensive brand new ($150ish) and it lasted me close to 5 years until I sold it with my last car and it was still working perfectly.

Wow. Are you sure I need that much juice. I don't want to wake up the neighbours. Haha

If you install sound deadening in the trunk you will barely hear it from outside. And I strongly recommend you do install some!! Im still blown away the difference it makes. I can keep my stereo at 15 while driving on the highway when I used to have to keep it around 20. Plus it eliminated so much road noise!

Ya, you're right. I need some of that sound deadening stuff. Still got a link? Or ideally it would be great to pick some up locally. Do you know of Home Depot or Rona carry the stuff?

I doubt they'll have. Im pretty sure this stuff was a few notches up the scale from roof flashing. If you search GT Mat Ultra on ebay for 50 Sq ft you should find some. 130$ shipped to Canada if I remember correctly

The specs on the subwoofer I have. Last column on the right. 10"

Tried to find an Alpine MRP-500 mono amp to drive the subwoofer, but it just didn't work out.
I have found this one and might buy it on Friday. What do you think?

@xXCiviXx

Amp. Rockford Punch 301m Mono 900Watt

Hmmmm....? Wth, I'm doing some research and it says it's 300 W, not 900.

I can get it for 60$ which is pretty good price. Will it do an adequate job or am I better to wait for the Alpine one?
