650whp or bust

Interesting. I just found at least 4 other threads about others talking about delamination on various forums.

If my understanding is correct the race bearings are designed to be looser than the stock bearings to allow the running of thicker race oil. I actually had a set in my D series build. I think I actually got a defective set because they only lasted about 6 months before I had to replace them because the layers delaminated and were leaving deposits in my oil pan. went back to a Std. size set and havent had any issues yet. Just some food for thought.

I've never heard about this until right now. I'm going to read up some more about it as I definitely don't want to be opening that bottom end up any time soon.

What is the cause of this?

I've never looked it up until flight commented about it above.

Yeah I mean the only reason I found out is because I opened the bottom end up to determine why I had 0 oil pressure. There was no knock or any other factor that would indicate bad bearings but boy was I in for a suprise. I wound up putting new bearings in with the engine still in the car.

i thought Bisimoto was the first to do the sidewinder on the new civics

That car was never tracked or driven on the street and made just for show. Technically they were the first, but there is no follow up on the car or the build since

My manifold arrived today :bananasplit:

@ripply are you doing the trans rebuild or are you having a shop do it for you?

Im doing the trans myself. It's not that hard to do, just a matter of buying a press from harbor freight for $100. There isn't much to it besides pressing the old gears out of the oem main and countershaft then reusing some parts (depending on the condition) and press everything back in the new Mainshaft and countershaft.

The reason I'm getting a new countershaft is because I plan on ordering the 4.3 Final Drive to make the gears even longer. Doing the calculations in my head, 2nd should hit about 80:vtec:

Nice build
Thank you sir
