Official Computer Talk Thread

Even then, it's after 10:00 your time.

Just got an email from ASUS about my bad motherboard from a month ago. They asked if I was still having problems. NOPE! I bought a second board and several other sets of RAM, got the setup working no thanks to you. Oh yeah, out about $100 because of Newegg return policies, restocking fees, and return shipping. But I know not to use them in the case you have a bad part or have to buy a bunch of extra things. Oh yeah...Newegg makes you go through the manufacturer for a mobo RMA and ASUS customer service apparently takes a month to reply to submitted tickets.

Excellent follow-up.....

You email them back telling them about your bad experience?

Yup. And that their lack of CS cost me a couple hundred bucks. I don't expect to hear anything back.

It's a shame you can't really go anywhere and physically buy parts anymore. Sure you can get a limited selection of ram and graphics cards at places like Best Buy but if you want to buy main components like motherboards, processors, or decent power supplies it's online or nothing.

I know booty likes microcenter, but they don't have a ton of locations.

I've used Fry's Electronics. But their high-end selection is limited.

Los Angeles wins by a couple of hours. So, nearest is 1200 miles away...

Fry's is good if you're doing a "normal" build. However, like I said - high end or HTPC type - not going to happen. TOTL 1080? Not that either.

Microcenter ftw.

Closest to me is like 20 mins :woot:

Crazy. Couldn't you get a larger "tv" with those type of specs cheaper?

I'm getting it for a good deal.

I was waiting for the Rockets comment :P

I'd definitely get at least 3 so you can surround yourself in those monitors
