Couldn't budge it last night, even after detaching the back portion. I think I'll have to drop the whole thing to take a look, but not enough time before I head out for a race tomorrow, so I'll have to live with it rattling on me once it warms up... I checked the mount in back with it cold and...
That's my current setup, Hasport 62A rear mount, tight as heck clamp. It slipped when I was at a track day I'm pretty sure... I pulled into the pit at one point and it was rattling like crazy... Probably filling the other mounts will help some as well, but I can tack weld it myself, so that's...
Yeah, I only have a stiffer rear-mount on the engine... I'm planning on filling the others, but haven't done it yet. I like @jsyn77's idea about welding it... I could just tack it in a couple spots in case I ever needed to separate it again.
You know, that's a damn good idea. Once I get the thing fully back together/correct/rattle-free, I think I'll tack it in a couple spots... I have a bottle of tri-mix and some stainless wire just collecting dust.
@squiggy - Yes, exactly! I should have been less verbose before... I was hoping someone had a genius idea of the best approach to take to get the damn thing to slip back together. I'm guessing I just need to unbolt the rearward fitting and then I'll be able to more easily manipulate the slip...
Yeah, I know about the poly hangers and the stiffer rear hanger as well... The *main* issue I'm having right now is that the slip fitting where the rear half of the exhaust mates up to the front straight portion has slipped rearward and I was not able to get it to move forward... So even if I...
Hey Guys,
I'm sure others have had similar issues, so I'm hoping to benefit from the experience you all rather than frustrate myself further... While I was at the track my exhaust started to rattle pretty horribly. It has since come and gone, but more often than not will rattle pretty badly...
Back to the original topic;-)
I got my Carbotech XP10/XP8 pads and installed with new Napa premium rotors (they couldn't turn my old ones with their equipment and I needed something quickly, I'll report back on these rotors after I run them a season (or they have issues)...). Changed the brake...
Not sure what the debate would be... Fixed piston are clearly superior in my mind... I've worked on both, there really is no comparison. It comes down to what is good enough. For me, I'd prefer to go fixed on all four corners or leave it alone. May not ultimately be what I do, but that's...
Honestly I'm more concerned with getting the best matched parts for tracking the car... I'm just a bit hesitant to upgrade only the front brakes. I used to drive a lighter car with pretty large four piston calipers on all four corners and it was well balanced... Don't worry, I'll be back at...
I'm able to threshold brake from high speed with the stock brakes with no issues. My only concern is that as I gain skill on the track and switch to stickier tires that I may start to have issues. I'll wait and see though. I do know I can get the OEM pads too hot, which is why I'm switching...
Have pricing for us yet? Over the next year I'm going to be deciding if I can stay with stock calipers as I just can't justify going to a BBK unless it's really necessary *for me*... But I'm guessing I may end up needing new rotors after the abuse I'm likely to put the stock ones through. I...
