Got the car back today. Official cause is "code p0404 no compression on #4 cylinder due to #4 vtec rocker came apart"
It damaged the cylinder head, so that was replaced along with chain tensioner guide.
Car feels fine and got a free oil change out of it.
Serious question. Since we are all civic drivers and shouldn't be biased.

just got an update and confirmed it was the same problem everyone has been having. i have been told the head was sent out to the machine shop and all parts are ordered to put it back together by the end of the week. they do not think i need to replace anything else. all covered under warranty...
Read a 11 page thread over on another forum. Sounds like a bunch of people are having this problem. I was planning to trade it in next June and hope it doesn't happen again between now and then.

Going 35 mph heard rumble. Looked down check engine light blinking. Imid says check emission, check engine, car stumbles and dies and won't restart. Car is stock with axle back exhaust. Engine temp is fine and car has oil.

If this happened right after u installed your intake and was running fine and smooth before I would question your install. Maybe go over it again and see if everything is tight and plugged in? Did u get anything on the maf?
