I have a long standard screwdriver that I ground the blade really thin, rounded the tip, and gave the end a bit of an angle. This is what I used to release the clips that hold the grille bar in place. The screws on the ends can be removed with a 90 degree ratcheting screwdriver.
I also ended up taking the hood latch off the top rad support bar to get enough room to get my beefy arms behind there to work. It took the patience of Job, but once I got half the clips released, it was pretty easy.
