2013 EX-L aftermarket head unit IMID directions

I have a 2013 civic EX-L with the touch screen navigation system. If I ever decide to replace it with an Apple CarPlay equipped head unit would I lose the IMID turn by turn directions? (You know like when the IMID shows exactly when to make the turn) Say I install an aftermarket head unit and am using Waze or Apple Maps to get to my destination, will this feature still work?

Cool, thanks I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a Pioneer or a Sony head unit to take advantage of Apple CarPlay. The Honda nav system just doesn’t do it for me.
 
I am using a pretty old Kenwood DNX692. I like Garmin’s Nav system. With the I datalink, you also get a bunch of cool info stuff about your car.

at, I’ve heard you lose the ability to update the clock on the IMID screen tho?
 
It would be of great help if someone could share what the I Datalink could actually do :)

Thanks for the link. Actually I have already gone through all the solutions described on the forums, and some others for that matter, and I kinda know the specs but the issue is that I have a European 2015 Civic, 5s auto with the executive pack on it ( Factory nav + i-mid) and so on, and can't actually find an interface that'll keep all the car's factory functions when I add an after-market headunit. I'm a bit confused about all the versions of the car with/without facelift, european or US, no navi, premium audio, 7" navigation and so on....

Can't actually pinpoint what works for my car .Here is what I got so far:
1.

This unit can do almost everything, wiring is spot on, but looses 100% of the I-mid functionality
2.

The idatalink is designed for US cars so not really sure about the compatibility
3. Diferent METRA harnesses and adapters put together with a CAN-BUS from Desaida or Belsee

The thing is none of them can help me actually save some of the functionality of the I-Mid and don't guarantee that I'll be able to see on the new headunit any info about the car at all (TRIP history, fuel consumption history, different alerts like seatbelts and so on)

What is your take on all of this guys?

Any help is very much appreciated

I’m very sorry. I didn’t realize you were outside the US/Canada. You have a civic with different electronics and wiring from what we have in North America. I would highly suggest looking at civinfo.com, as they have a site that mostly deals with the euro civic models. They would probably be able to get you wiring info and point you in the right direction. Sorry about that.
