Brembo brakes. 100% bolt on.

If you're talking about replacement pads for the OEM calipers, 8th and 9th gen are NOT the same! I've been trying to find track-worthy front pads for my 9th gen Si Sedan, and not much is available, at least not from Hawk. I'm trolling the Internet for Carbotechs now. The 9th gen Si uses the same pads as the 2003-2012 Accord 4 cylinder.

I remember searching and comparing pads and rotors for both gens. I guess it is only the rotors that can be used.

why are people asking about TL's when he says use s2k's ^?

webby you can use TL rotors I think. But it would require a spacer behind the rotor. And possibly extended studs. With the s2000 rotors it just bolts on. But the minor drawback to s2000 rotors is they are slightly too small. So a very very small amount of pad won't touch the rotor. Not a huge deal in my opinion.

Also you can use TL brembo calipers if you're willing to drill the caliper bolt holes on your steering knuckle. They are cheaper than dc5 type r brembos. And easier to find.

At drift Atlanta, Baer said 9 th gen calipers are coming out soon, and they will fit with 17 si rims, around 400 a caliper.

These are dc5 brembos. Difference being. They're the same bolt size as stock. So no drilling required. Down side is. They're meant to mount on the back side of the rotor. Not forward like shown. So that puts the bleeder in the wrong position.

You could just swap the calipers to the opposite sides. So the bleeders face up. But you may experience uneven pad wear because of the different size caliper pistons.

these calipers are call differential pistons calipers...

for adequate performance, use FD2R brembos, don't use DC5R brembos.. because your installing the calipers "backward"....

a more clear example, imagine your driving your cars with directional tires that's mounted backward.
Caliper Selection and Mounting
Most Wilwood extreme performance calipers are one directional because of the differential piston bore design (one end of the caliper having larger pistons than the other); the caliper must be mounted in a specific position relative to the rotor rotation. All Wilwood Ordering Information calipers are marked with a rotor rotation arrow on them. The caliper should be mounted so that the smaller piston end is closest to the rotor entrance, and the larger piston end toward the rotor exit. The larger piston end provides slightly greater clamping force to compensate for pad taper that can occur under extended severe use applications. An improperly mounted caliper (reverse rotation) will cause increased pad taper and reduce overall braking efficiency.

Note that differential piston bore calipers cannot be used interchangeably from side to side - there is a left hand caliper and a right hand caliper. Also, calipers differ depending on whether the mounting is behind or in front of the spindle - this affects bleed screw position. Make sure to properly analyze these criteria when ordering and mounting or replacing Ordering Information calipers.

how can you bleed without mounting the calipers ?? perhaps you should do a DIY ?

  • Differential bore calipers -- As the surface of the rotor heats up, the clamping force of the pistons has to be increased to avoid brake fade. If the caliper has multiple pistons (or multiple pairs of pistons), the brake rotor surface is initially heated by the pistons pushing against the brake pad at the leading edge of the caliper, making the rotor surface hotter when it rotates back to the pistons closer to the trailing edge of the caliper. Therefore it helps if the pistons closer to the rear edge of the caliper are larger. Differential-bore calipers use smaller pistons up front, larger pistons toward the back.

Attach brake hose to caliper. Slide rotor or block of metal in between pads......bleed brakes with bleeder pointing up. When all air is removed. Remove block of metal or rotor. And mount onto car.

Dc5r. But acura TL works as well and its properly oriented from the start. Just need to enlarge the caliper mount holes. But if you use dc5r and want proper orientation. Mount them so the bleeders point down. But like I said. To bleed properly you'll need to bleed them before bolting them in place so you can do it with the bleeders pointing up so all the air comes out.

Can't the TL-S calipers be switched on either side of the car as long as the bleeder is mounted on the correct side of the caliper?
