Hey guys!

2014 si rallye red.

I noticed if the parking brake is engaged and I open my phone with the hdmi connection I can mirror my iphone on the screen in the car.

I want to be able to use my phone alhamdulilah my gps as I use waze as my navigation app and it shows it full screen until I disengage the e brake.

Any DIY or workaround? Couldn't find any myself.

Thanks.

It may also be tied to the speed sensor once you start moving. I know it blocks you from altering the nav stuff while the car is in motion. Users tried to trick the car into thinking the parking brake was applied, and that didn't even do it. I guess it's tied to a speed sensor as well as the ebrake. So if it sees the car is moving, it doesn't even matter that you've fixed the ebrake issue. I wouldn't be surprised if the hdmi thing is the same way.

So even if we ground the wire with the e brake it wouldn't work? Why would there even I be a speed sensor in my si. That doesn't make sense.

Probably the same idea as when I come to a stop in traffic (not using the parking brake) The Nav and phone screens give me all available options on the touch screen. The minute I start moving again, most options are greyed out. It has nothing to do with the parking brake.

Hmm ok. Makes sense. I just haven't seen or heard good things about the honda app I can download from the App Store. Some say you can't use the screen or back out of it while it's navigating.

I have a '13 so I can't speak for the new systems. I'm guessing the movement sensor is the same idea in both though.

I meant how we use the screen as we do now. For instance acceding the info screen or messing with settings or seeing which songs are playing etc. This is if the navi is open and working? Can you?

When I use the navi, I can see the song info in the iMid. I can also use the steering wheel controls to scroll through different options. I can switch to the audio menu in the navi screen to change radio stations or songs then I go back to the Nav screen.

I think that's what you're asking.

Did you buy the $60 navi app? Do you like it? Think it's worth it?

Hopefully Honda will release their software update soon so the '14 Civic with DisplayAudio can support Apple's CarPlay, like they show in the promotional photos. Then it will mirror Navi apps from the phone while the vehicle is in motion. There is a speed sensor in your Civic because that is how the car determines the speed. It is also used by the OEM Navi system, if you have that option. The speed data is used by the ECU/PCM and Airbag system.

I know right! How will we know when the software update is released? I signed up on Hondas website where you can view your specific car website etc and I would assume it shows it there.
