Changing inner cv boot?

Oh damn back to ground zero lol need to take it to my uncle he has impact gun. Thanks again guys

You don't need an impact, it just makes it easier. A breaker bar, socket and a pipe (I use my jack handle) for leverage. Then stand on it. Usually breaks it loose for me. The speedi-boot used to run about $50 back in the day, way back in 1990-1991 when I worked for Manny, Moe and Jack (pep boys). The regular boots ran about $6-$10. Even now they are only about $10-$15. If you have hand tools, breaker bar and pipe, you can do this, I have faith in you. You may need a ball joint separator, even then you can smack that with a hammer. If you have any questions, post up here, or pm me and ill give you my number. Really, it is this easy.

Kroil cant hurt, but I don't think that they would be rusty at this time. The nuts are usually staked on after they are torqued. You take a punch and smack it on there. You will see what I am talking about when you get in there.

From autozones website for a 2009 Civic Si:

"Operation: The axle nut holds the CV axle to the wheel bearing hub. Advice: Most axle nuts are staked to lock them in place after tightening. Before you can remove the axle nut you must first straighten out the staked area of the old axle nut. If you are working without an air impact gun, loosen the axle nut while the wheel is still on the ground. If possible have an assistant hold their foot on the brake. Most manufacturers recommend not to reuse the old axle nut. Recommendations: New axle nut.(should come with new axle) "

Axle nut torque for 2009 Civic Si is 181 ft lbs. Cant imagine that being much different for the 9th gen.

hmm...the 2013 accord is a k24 and the tq on the axle nut is 342 lb-ft

i know the civic Si is a different car, but the axle nut specs should be similar given the similar motor size and hp.

hmm...i just looked it up again and looks like this guide from college hills honda is off. 328 N-m is correct, but that works out to ~245 lb-ft, and my mistake, that's the v6. the 2.4 is 245N-m which is 181lb-ft. my bad

Thanks bro! I use the same method with the breaker bar and my jack handle. Ill give it a try but now I see why people rather spend the $$. For the speedi boot instead of all that labor. Ill try check my auto part store to see if they have the boots and will try it. Thanks for helping me out and having faith in me. Will definitely pm u if I run into problems.
