Mark Zuckerberg closes off Google+ account, then uncloses it again
Zuck - who has consistently been the most followed person on Google's much-hyped new Facebook rival, even beating out Google founders Larry Page andSergey Brin- suddenly when dark, with his privacy settings locked down so nobody could see which people (or how many) had him in their circles.
He wasn't the only one either - Brin, Page and Google+ project lead Vic Gundotra also suddenly went more private at some point last night, and nobody knows quite why.
The chart of Google+'s most popular individuals, kept by Google+ user (and co-founder of TwitterCounter and The Next Web) Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten athis social statistics website, showed that tech blogger Robert Scoble was the new most popular Google+ user - but no sooner had Scoble had the chance to bask in this new found glory than Zuckerberg, Page, Brin and Gundotra all reappeared as suddenly as they vanished.
Assuming that all four tech executives didn't have a cross-company pact to confuse people by disappearing and re-appearing at the same time, it seems more likely to us that their privacy lockdown was down to either a glitch, or an experiment being carried out by Google+ engineers. Google has made it clear that Google+ is a 'field trial', so things might occasionally not work.
The other alternative is that Zuckerberg - who famously said that he didn't think privacy was a 'social norm' any longer - suddenly got hit by a bout of shyness, and decided to try out the (rather widely praised) privacy settings on Google+.

Banned from Google+, Anonymous creates Anonplus
Google has reportedly banned a handful of Anonymous members from Google+ (it's not exactly clear how many accounts were shut down). The hacktivist group likened Google's actions to the stories of activists being banned from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as governments blocking various websites using Internet censorship tools. As a result, Anonymous has decided to create its own social network: Anonplus, located at anonplus.com.
Currently, the site has only been announced. At the bottom left hand corner, it says "Revision :0.1 Alpha." While this version number is meant to indicate that the site is still very early in development, it's not a social network yet. There is no way to sign up or interact. Currently there's just one webpage with the Anonplus name, the motto "Social Networking Anonymously," and the heading "Welcome to Anonplus.com the Anonymous Social Networking site."
The only link is to the Dev Forum, which uses the Zetaboards forum software, and isn't even on the anonplus.com domain name. There are four subforums set up: The Logic, The Interface, General Chatter, and Staff Postions. At the time of writing, the forum already had over 100 registered members.
This initiative is an odd one because it jibes with what Anonymous is all about: getting things done anonymously. Still, it is technically possible to build a social network that doesn't share anything with anyone unless you specifically give it permission to. In fact, Anonplus will probably not encourage sharing information like your full name and location. Either way, the goal appears to be to build a social network where you can say and do anything you want.
"This is one social network that will not tolerate being shut down, censored, or oppressed - even in the face of blackout," an Anonymous spokesperson wrote in a statement. "We the people have had enough…enough of governments and corporations saying what's best for us - what's safe for our minds. The sheep era is over. The interwebz are no longer your prison."

That's not gonna happen.I don't have my laptop anymore (getting another one soon) but the cell service down here in the basement of the courthouse SUCKS so I don't think it would work good. I can use my phone for Google+/FB but meh.

Rival hackers deface AnonPlus
A group of Turkish hackers have defaced the front page of AnonPlus with an image of a dog wearing a suit.
"This logo suits you more. How dare you rise against to the World," the hackers wrote in a mocking note left on the defaced site.
"Do you really think that you are Ottoman Empire? We thought you before that you cannot challenge with the world and we teach you cannot be social. Now all of you go to your doghouse."
As Sophos security analyst Graham Cluley notes, the AnonPlus security lapse is rather surprising indeed.
"Clearly, their site had vulnerabilities or someone was sloppy in their choice of password if rivals were able to break in and change the content. [Still], I think the message we can take from this defacement is that not every computer enthusiast in Turkey is a fan of Anonymous," Cluley wrote in a blog post.
"It's very easy to imagine that those involved in hacking and cybercrime all have the same objectives, and form a united front. However, the truth is that there's back-stabbing, disagreements, fall-outs and (as we appear to see in this case) sometimes these can result in hackers taking pot-shots at each other."
AnonPlus - a planned social networking site - was announced just a few days after members of the collective were unceremoniously banned from Google+ .
"We've all heard the stories of activists being banned from FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, and governments blocking their people from these sites as well through organized black outs," Anonymous wrote in a communiqué earlier this week.
"[Well], this is one social network that will not tolerate being shut down, censored, or oppressed - even in the face of blackout. We the people have had enough... enough of governments and corporations saying what's best for us - what's safe for our minds. The sheep era is over. The interwebz are no longer your prison."
