How may I help?
I've found out that 99% of the time when I silently "boycott" a movie or series of movies, they end up being some of the best movies I've ever seen. I didn't see Avatar until I got it on Netflix in Bluray, which was probably a year and a half after it hit theaters. It is now easily one of my top 5 all-time favorite movies.
Usually if I was late in hearing about a movie, and everyone else jumps on the bandwagon before I do, I find myself disinterested in the movie. I think a lot of people are wired like me... I've never seen Star Wars (old or new), Twilight, Lord of the Rings... I could go on. Harry Potter is one of the ones I did go see, but then again I was one of the first people to actually sit down and read the first book (never read any of the others though). I can honestly say that this series of movies has been amazing. I'm 25 now, so basically I watched them all through my teens. Sad to see them ending.
One of these days I will go see all these other excellent movies I've never seen (if I can ever find the time).
There are very few movies (anymore) that I would consider to replace any of my existing favorites. There are a couple of truly good ones I've seen in the past year or two - in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed the Potter series, but would not place any of them in my top spots. Of course, everyone has their own tastes.
Two recent films that I would recommend seeing are True Grit and The King's Speech.
