Floor mats

I hope this is not in the wrong section. I bought a '15 SI sedan in November. By the time I went to do the first oil change the floor mats had two holes where my feet rest. It took some explaining to have them replaced under warranty as it is unusual wear and tear. It looks like the new mats are heading in the same direction. I don't want to have floor mats with holes and don't know what to do next time they tear. Will Honda keep replacing them under warranty? I bought my sedan new.

Our mats are poor quality and there is nothing that you can do about it. I would suggest upgrading to weather tech mats instead.

I will, but I still believe Honda owes me something that won't fall apart. My 8th gen had 120k when traded in and floor mats were still good. My car has 8k miles and needs its third set of mats. My question is how many sets will Honda replace under warranty before they say it's enough?

The driver side mat under my clutch pedal is showing signs of wear. I have just over 9k on the car. My 97 civic has 240k and the drivers mat is still decent after 18 years of use.

Agreed. The mats in the newer Civics aren't very good. . We have a 2009 in the driveway and the mats are in way better shape.

Weathertechs seem to be the best alternative.

Now i'm torn between the weathertech and the Lloyds mats. The red is so tempting to tie everything together.

Just for the fun of it, I'd like to put forth my reasoning for the extra cheap floor mats.
They have ppl that make decisions on what is to go on/in our cars, and where to hold down the cost. My guess is they figure the floor mats will not stay in the car long enough for the average peep to see them get trashed, because most ppl(in my opinion), will buy after market mats as their 1st mod, at least I've been doing that with each car I've bought since the 50's, same with seat covers(for most of mine).

That doesn't excuse them for giving us cheap mats!

I remember in '94 I bought a Jeep and the regular factory mats were optional, 1st time I've ever seen that choice given, so I opted not to get them knowing I'd be getting after markets anyway.

Which leads me to this, maybe Honda could do like wise, and make their mats optional, then we could feel better about buying after market mats having not paid for the inferior factory mats at the time of sale for the car.

Mine are still brand new after 3yrs, took them off the day i got my civic :)

Agreed @Monk. When I traded my Si today I put the mats back in and they were brand new. I never used them. I put different mats in as soon as I got it.

I thought these mats would be just as good as the ones in my FA5. Those were still good at 120k. Guess I'm naive. lol

I wouldn't say, "naïve", we shouldn't expect to have to replace worn items in the 1st couple of years of ownership.
Which brings to mind, How's the steering wheel holding out, a couple of years back there was a rash of fast wearing wheels(thinly veiled attempts at passing them off as leather).
I installed a steering wheel cover for mine right after buying the car as well. So that's seat covers, floor mats, and s-wheel, should be put on our list of 1st things to do when buying a new car...... maybe worth noting when negotiating how much the car will cost when buying.

It just wain't what I expected from my first new purchase.[emoji52] The car is wonderful in every way it needs to be.

I bought a set of the lloyds mats for my wifes car. They are very nice and they fit a lot better than expected. I got them through @XenonDepot . They are one of the forum sponsors and they are always running deals or sales it seems like. Really good guys to deal with too. Like surprisingly good.

They went out of their way to send me carpet samples in a couple different colors so I could pick. it cost me a minimal $10 but was way worth it considering the price of the mats and I just had to have them the right color. If they were a shade off I couldn't stand it. hahaha
