I had the chance to drive the FRS at the Baltimore drive event today, here are some of the pics, needless to say it was fun and the car met my expectations. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336260865.177551.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1336260965.794309.jpg

Looks like it....

The car is nothing like the WRX, not even close, turn in and stability make it feel like my rx8, even a bit more stable than that now that I recall. The seating position is perfect, lower and more focused than the WRX, but not too cramped like the rx8. The seats are very comparable to evo 8/9 Recaros in the position and the amount of support they offer, the steering wheel comes at you from straight ahead, not from down below like so many crapbox based sporty cars.

The cars had 225/40-18 yoko s drive tires, trd springs and catback exhaust, which actually sounds pretty good and not ricer annoying. Its a nice agressive tone without being raspy or too bassy. I can see myself getting one (or spt, borla, nameless). The throttle response is very sudden and sharper than the wrx or rx8, all of the cars had auto gearboxes but this is one of the few vehicles where buying the auto won't affect the driving experience, The shifts are fast and robust, much like a twin clutch trans, and the ecu blips the throttle on downshifts. Luckily it had just rained so I was able to easily kick the back end out, even though the TC was on (plate was stuck on top of the button so we couldnt turn it off :( ) . The overall size of the car is small, very small, it's about the same size as the current Miata. People were able to somehow get in the back but the rear seats are almost purely ornamental.

The car is fantastic to drive and felt pretty quick, quick enough to be fun but not a straight line monster, in ordering a BRZ I know I have chosen wisely.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336267272.651876.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1336267330.312104.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1336267392.477659.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1336267476.725053.jpg

Nice write up. :wavey:

Thanks, did it from my cell phone because it's soooo much easier to post pics via tapatalk.

The next three weeks will be hell until it (supposedly) arrives at the dealer.

Nice write up Jason!

Why was the car wet? It didn't rain on Saturday...

Yes it did, an isolated storm hovered right over Baltimore and soaked the western part of the city, I imagine you didnt get any where you are further north.

Ill say that it added to the experience, they were quite easy to slide around then

I'm actually due east of the city. Well south-east.

Changing oil looks very easy to do...compared to the 8th/9th gens. Lol. The engine bay doesn't look like it has enough room to fit a boost set-up (for the people who would want their fr-s/br-z boosted).

Are you going to trade-in the WRX or own both cars? Also, is there an option to change the wheels? Lol. I think the stock wheels are hideous.

I'm so happy they put some different tires on this vehicle for the ride and drive. Something about driving a sports car with prius tires is no bueno.

I'm sure TRD will offer some form of wheel for the vehicle. IMO, a little bit of staggerd aftermarket would be nice, opposed to what the manufactuerer may offer.

Top mounted oil filter FTW!! Finally no more crawling under the car to twist it off. I'm trading in the WRX for it.

I think an aftermarket turbo is possible, I looked underneath the hood and a new LGT style front mount turbo will probably work, not that I would put one on at all.

I think tires and exhaust are the only things I do performance wise this year, I plan on getting pilot supersports before the dragon. I really counldn't push the car because of the rain, I just got it sideways a bit.
