How to properly break in a 2012 Honda Civic LX Sedan?

Picking up the car in an hour or so. I've done a bit of research and opinions seem to vary from "take it easy for the first 1000 kms or so" to "drive it like you stole it" and everything in between. While I know RPMs should vary a lot during break in period, what about the actual RPMs you should take the car to? Does it matter how low or high the RPMs are as long as they don't stay constant for an extended period of time? Should you accelerate slower than normal for the duration of the break in period or just accelerate normally?
 
:yeahthat: follow the manual. No need to stress over what others say you should/shouldn't do.
 
Went through the owner's manual already and it doesn't say anything about the break in period.
 
I believe page 213 of the manual, right side of the page under "precautions while driving" explains.

Ahhh my bad, must've missed it. It seems pretty vague though. Should I just drive normally or should I still accelerate slightly slower than normal? Should the RPMs stay under a certain amount or is the RPMs irrelevant as long as the RPMs are varying?
 
The service manager of over 30 years with Honda says drive it like you are going to drive it. Also the owners manual only says that you need to break in the brakes because the abs is not set in so no emergengy breaking for the first 500 miles.
 
Mkay thanks. Would it hurt to drive like a snail though (shifting at 2500 RPM)? Would it be good to give the new motor a little bit of exercise occasionally (maybe up to 4000 RPM or something like that)? And does it matter if ECON mode is on or off during the break in period (it's on right now)?
 
Basically you just drive the car. There are people who have sat bouncing off the rev limiter soon after buying the car. Driving slow or keeping the revs down is not going to hurt. Go enjoy your car.
