Jiffy Lube Scam Caught on Tape! * threads merged

I still don't trust them.... I don't care what any head honcho says..... I had to take my car for its last oil change to a quick place cause I was not home and good thing the 2 guys there are into cars, but I found this out after the fact and the first thing they said was I never heard of Mobil Clean 5000..... But they did a good job....

I had to use a quick change place a few years ago, and I was at like 3500 miles. The guy was like, we have to flush your whole system out since you went over 3k miles. He wouldn't stop pushing the flush service... I left.

Wow someone talking bout Honda not doing the service kinda scares me.. I've never done the jiffy noob thing..

I use to always do my own oil changes, but the past couple 8th's i've had I went to Honda.. Guess i've gotten lazy and found it to be more convenient to just to drop it off.
Welp this just convenced me to start doing it myself again!

damn....our Lube Center in MD let you sit in your car watch what they do......which gives me a sense of comfort since i live in a townhome and dont have much room...but i do have 2yrs of free oil changes from my dealer :D

My rule of thumb is, if its not yourself or someone personal you trust doing the job, take it to the dealership. Is your life or anyone riding with you really worth the amount of money you save?

Only time I ever took a car to have its oil changed was when I owned my previous FA5. ..damn filter placement.
Took it to a local "Muffler Shop" and watched them the entire time. LIKE A DAMN HAWK! They did ok.

That doesn't change anything. My dealership didnt torque the drain plug on my CR-Z and it dumped the oil all over my undercarriage about 500 miles later. There are careless or inexperienced/new employees everywhere. And everyone makes mistakes.

I would disagree because a claim to the dealership of the incident will hold them liable and actually have a good chance of getting it repaired without cost from you pocket. I do agree however that everyone does makes mistakes and can be minimized at the dealership.

That part of it is true for sure.

Back when I had my 2005 Honda Accord v6 6spd, I took it to do oil change, they offered transmission fluid change, I needed it so I said yes. They over filled, oil leaked onto clutch. Ruined clutch

They only wanted to pay for a auto zone clutch done at their "friends" shop about $700 total.

I requested an OEM clutch done at Honda dealership about $2200 total. In the end I had it done at Honda, took them to small claims, verdict was on my favor for $1800
