The lasers are only used for high beams, and in this application they reportedly double the range that the light can reach, taking it up to 600 meters or 1970 feet! That equates to over a third of a mile.

Another advantage is the reduced strain caused to oncoming cars, as the light is now focused and does not spread as much as in the case of a conventional setup.

Love Bmw headings and cars, I have had to differernt 08 BMW's. I had a 08 328i and a 08 335xi, it is really hard to even try to keep up with all the new tech stuff coming out on new cars !

It's probably really low power as well and it won't need the time to heat up for max illumination.
