That’s really rough. Hopefully your grandfather can get the care he requires & your family finds peace in the decisions you’ve got to make going forward. That’s a lot to deal with at one time.Thanks everyone. I've been trying to prepare myself for this day for several years now ever since I found out he had liver problems. Unfortunately he's been addicted to pain killers since the 90s and that's what's caused all his issues. All too often now these issues have pushed people to other options we believe that is what has happened to him. My grandpa, his dad, was living with him also and he has dementia and other problems also and we had to have him taken to the hospital to get checked out. He was in bad shape also and the doctors told my brother that he wouldn't have made it much longer if we wouldn't have had him brought in. We are being asked to determine if we want a DNR on him if something bad happens while treating him. I'm having a hard time trying to get my mind around all this. I don't know if I can take possibly losing him also.
