So my little town like many others decided to do a drive by Santa clause parade. I knew this would be an awful idea but for some reason thought we would be ok getting in line an hour after it started.
I was wrong. Ended up driving over 2 miles away from our house which is close to where it started to get into line.
There were side streets along the way filled with cars trying to get into line. I knew it was a waste of time when I saw that. But the wife insisted we try anyway for the kids.
Took us well over an hour to travel 1.2miles just to end up turning around and going home. Worst part was reading about it on Facebook groups and finding out how many people without kids were in line for this or got to see the parade.
I'm over this virus. Let everyone get Infected, its going to happen anyways.

I switched a couple years back when you gave me that Pennzoil. It slowed the burn of oil I always had on the little ‘vic.

Hey Chris... como esta?! Remember your Mesquito Ridge experience? Same thing happened to me recently even though pads were fine. I know you changed pads as soon as you got home... but which brand did you choose?

I totally forgot about that! Was it 5-20 or 10-30? Seem to recall it had better Noack Volatility numbers, meaning it would suffer less evaporation. And since Pennzoil uses a nat gas base oil, engine deposits are lower too.

    In case you missed it:

Project Farm did a comparison between the new super cheap Kirkland Motor Oil (Costco) and SuperTech (WMT). He had also reviewed Amazon Basics, all three of which are bottled at Warren Distributing. Based on their additive package he thought all three were identical oils.

The only thing that shocked me were the Blackstone Lab reports. TBN (Total Base Number) dropped from 6.5 (not very high to begin with) all the way into the 2's after just 4,200 miles of easy, low-rpm Suburban driving. While the Suburban is a heavier vehicle he didn't say it was used for towing, which would have qualified as "severe service".

While anything over TBN of 1.0 is still acceptable (barely) the tests do illustrate that none of the Warren products are intended for extended drain intervals, despite being synthetic.

If using any of the products listed above you might consider a 5,000 mile drain interval, or only 3,500 miles if operated under severe service like excessive idling, towing, stop and go traffic , dusty conditions, or non-stop Dragon runs.

    It was 5-20.

per you other question. - of course I remember Mosquito Ridge. I guess that was 3 years ago this week (Friday). Smoked the brakes good and then we chased the Million Dollar Posse of Porsches.

I put StopTech Sport pads if I recall correctly right after that. Well, stainless brake lines, slotted rotors, pads, bigger rear sway bar, etc. Poor car has been neglected during the pandemic not getting much use.

    @FooBird!

3 yrs ago, dang...where does the time go. Still remember what a treat it was to have you here. Yep, those were the days ...days when we could leave the house.

You must be lovin' the RSB. Your car already handled well without it, and the entire car felt solid -- much more solid than mine -- remember like it was yesterday as we chased Austin towards Foresthill touching triple digits. (Well... at least 95, which wasn't bad in a 45-zone) Frankly wasn't worried about us... but at the time those speeds were unfamiliar to an 18-yr old... who foolishly refused to come in second. But thankfully you didn't push him much, and he's probably alive today because you didn't.

Finally went to the HFP 18" wheels... they look great, and YOU seem to think that extra inch will shave seconds off my times. ;) Technically yes, but i'm also a little older and wiser. Not sure I have the same balls-to-the-wall attitude I used to.

P.S. btw... I survived Covid. For me (and most) it's no big deal at all. Unless you're over 78 -- especially with co-morbidities -- it's just another flu bug. Even the CDC admits only 6% die from Covid alone. For me it was 10 days of feeling blah. That was it, and I am not in the best of shape. Most standard flu bugs have been twice as bad... but end more quickly. This one drags on. My wife (in much better shape) got over it right away... fever was gone in 2/3 days.

Here's a lung specialist who goes into detail on why some ppl have bigger problems:
