Alright homies, I went to a Baby Shower today -- something I've never been to before. I had NO IDEA what I was getting into, but my mom (Who didn't go for reasons that will become clear later ) seemed to know I was going to wear the wrong thing, and texted me before I left my apartment. ...So I changed out of my T Shirt and Jeans and into some formalwear, as requested.
We met up at my parents' house, and my Dad and I drove all the way down to sub-central Texas to pick up my Grandma, who also wanted to go. Now, a primer on my Grandma -- she's a sweet older woman, but has really bad competition-anxiety in spaces where there are other women; this has always been the case as my mom tells it. I reiterate that I had never been to a Baby Shower up until this point, so I didn't realize that upon arrival, that this event would be almost entirely women-in-attendance.
...So her anxiety was in full effect.
I must've heard the opener "This is my son and grandson" a million times, as she told every passerby -- even staff her absolute life story. From there, it was out-of-context comments about her outfit, where she lived, how she stays so young looking, how she's dyed her hair since 1962, and a bunch of other unprompted info that no one had really asked for. I was stunned-- Mom was right. So, the event was for my sister, who lives in New Jersey right now. It was put together by her two friends; One doing the emcee work, and the other helping people with drinks. Both friends were really nice-looking, but the non-emceeing one was almost always out of the room continuously tidying up.
...The emcee was a very attractive woman in a tight blazer and miniskirt combo; CLEARLY out of any league I would ever be a draft pick in but -- and hang onto that conjunction -- between emceeing, my sister's friend would lean over to tidy up spills and stuff on the popcorn table. For whatever reason, each time she did this, my grandma would pat her right on her conjunction and ask for help with something -- like a toddler. This happened probably 3 times. Luckily, each time I was seated far enough way to where I wasn't the immediate suspect of anything (because she kept swiveling to my direction for some reason), but wow I was dying.
I couldn't get out of there fast enough, man -- you could tell things were getting weird as everyone kept interacting with her. So, the thing ended and we drove her home (My dad drove suspiciously fast -- he knew); She seemed to have had a good time -- and honestly, aside from cringing to Pluto, I guess I did, too. I'm happy that my parents get to be Grandparents; I have no clue about being an uncle.
I'll probably also never see my sister's friends again in my entire life, so at least there's that as a consolation.
It's an SL.Looks to be a 95 (only produced the Spyders in 95 and 96). The Spyder SLs were lower in production than the Spyder VR-4s, arguably making it more rare; but, because it's non-turbo and FWD, it's less desirable overall.

It's a guy at work wife's car. She wanted it a few years back. Guess it was a nice day and he drove it to work.
Yeah men don't go to baby showers lol

I don't think I've ever been to a baby shower, not even for the 3 my wife had.Yeah. Baby showers are usually for ladies only. But times have changed. I went to my wife's.

I've been to 2 baby showers and they were for men and women.
One was for a co-worker and the other was for the wifes friend and our "framily" group....as we call our friend group.
@Honda-Fan you should always ask and confirm if men are attending. But you where pretty much screwed from the get go since it was your sisters that is from out of town. I've heard of some sisters not letting brothers and dads attend.
Yea from what I read 8mm was about max for the hub centric ringsTried my new 5mm spacers on the si with the drag radials. Plenty of space now. Was also surprised that the hub centric ring still goes into the rim which was a bonus. Super excited for May 24th and 25th now.
He'll have to 1-up grandma though . . . that might be too high a bar for Honda-Fan to achieve. If theres a next time just deliberately cause a ridiculous scene so that they never invite you again… problem solved
