Netflix to Rebrand DVD Service as 'Qwikster'

ken will be hiring when he finishes his quickster box production push

:giggle:

Our sales have been really slow lately, and our staff has been pared to the bone over the past several years. I don't see any hiring coming in the foreseeable future.

Corporate has only been spending money on new companies, not people.

wouldn't a contract for 30k boxes help that some? It said rebox had over 25k boxes a year ago May.

Increased sales figures will probably not cause increases to our staffing, except maybe in customer service.

At this point, I believe our production will eventually be phased out at our location, and corporate will continue to place any increased requirements on the existing staff.

so telling the client.. "HEYYyyy, we can make about 4 of those machines a day"... (because we only want to keep our current staff).

It'll take us roughly 20yrs to get that made for you, but we'll get it done! - is that better than hiring more people, and then saying - "we'll have those made for you in 2 months!!!"

could be stupid - as you could make 30k in a day for all I know lol (begs the question what they do if they're not making 30k a day though)

Saw this on reddit and it made me laugh:

These people have no idea how to position their couch

Our corporate management has already begun to move our larger production orders over to other (lower cost) production locations. Corporate will tell us we have 4 months to move an entire product line - with no down time allowed. Redbox is already on its way out of our plant, so any future increases to our orders will not land in our books. The only resources that will remain (for the near future) are support staff like engineering. Eventually, even our engineering group will probably go too.

This is the progression of U.S. manufacturing for the most part.

are you worried about your job situation?

I don't know what to think about amazon/netflix buying

I haven't felt "comfortable" about my job for over the last 5-1/2 years. Although many (including my boss) say I would be the last person they would ever expect to see "let go", I know that the decision would be made by someone who doesn't even know or care about me.

Anyone working in manufacturing these days are foolish to think their days aren't numbered. :sadbanana:

:( sounds like it's time to start your own company - and pitch the quickster video box idea to them :shadyhat:

I see the downfall of Netflix happening. The online streaming service is ok, but their movies are far too old to be appealing. If they did new releases on live streaming they could maintain alot of customers and also add some. But if they think people are going to jump on Netflix for some old movies and shows, not going to happen.

Sadly in this economy their is no such thing as a "safe" job these days. I am soon to be manager of a large food retail chain here on the north east. I won't be making as much money as alot of other people but sadly the job market is terrible, and the one job industry that people will always need and use is "food"

LOL YT sent me to copyright school for my Netflix Spoof video. It's still available on here. :D I got a message regarding Conaco Productions LLC copyright infringement.

glad to hear you guys got some new contracts. Looking at the key thing has me somewhat puzzled. How many people need an atm style key maker? There aren't enough hardware stores, lowes, home depot etc that provide this same thing for cheap? Or there is a large demographic looking to make keys after 9pm or whatever?

revive -
Q: So, everything is free?
A: It doesn’t cost a penny unless you lose or damage your bottle. In these cases, a replacement costs $10. We are able to offset costs through a value-exchange model where you, as a user, trade a minute of your time watching our screen for everything Revive Station provides.
==
they're giving the machine away for free to schools and such, and the initial bottles for students etc are free...? So they're making money off selling some type of advertisement you watch on the screen while filling the bottle?

Q: How many Revive Stations would my school get for free?
A: Each school will be provided with as many Stations as deemed necessary to be convenient by Revive Station. We know that bottled water is convenient – we will ensure the Revive Station experience is easy and convenient as well!

Q: How much will this cost me as a user?
A: Everything is free, including your first high-quality stainless steel bottle, unlimited bottle cleaning and filling, and one multivitamin per day.

There a couple Lowes and Home Depots that have the Minute Key already in the stores in my area. Having them next to a Redbox or at a gas station wouldn't be a bad idea and may be cheaper to have the machine there instead of a Lowes/Home depot.
