New Aston Martin Zagato revealed

The V12 Zagato endurance racer concept will be unveiled tomorrow at the Illa D'Este Concours on the shores of Lake Como, Italy

The V12 Zagato features a new handcrafted aluminium body, as well as Zagato's trademark 'double bubble' roof

Under that bonnet resides a 6.0-litre, 510bhp V12 engine

The V12 Vantage upon which this car is based accelerates from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds. Because the Zagato is lighter it is likely to dip below 4.0 seconds for the benchmark sprint

Working alongside the initial design team in 2010 was a group of Aston Martin engineers led by Chris Porritt, the man responsible for the engineering of the One-77 supercar

Aston is likely to build a road going version of the two-seater, which marks the 50th anniverasary of when it and Zagato first worked together on the DB4 GT Zagato

This race concept features a roll cage, although road going versions are liklely to make do without this option

The V12 Zagato's racing debut will be at the Nürburgring on May 28. Aston Martin is also likely to enter two cars in the 24 hour event there on 25/26 June

Director of design at Aston Martin, Marek Reichman said: 'The V12 Zagato is an elegant yet brutal design which reflects the great balance between race performance and pure Aston Martin style'
