niteshade over clear reflectors

so ive never worked with niteshade before and as im doing some research im hearing that lighter coats of niteshade over a clear bit looks bad. i wanna go for a smoked look over a clear reflector and i dont want it to look purple as i have heard. anyone have any input?

ive seen that but im looking to go pretty light. i think im going to return the niteshade and most of the other stuff i bought for this project and buy some tint film from grfxp and blow dry it on.

that was 5-7 coats to get it that dark though

i just dont wanna mess it up because its something thats going to be REALLY visible and i dono if i can replace them
