Well, its been a long time coming. Tons of searching, several emergencies and family crises, and several years in the Middle East, have led me to own one of 3 USDM 1998 Kaiser Silver NA2 NSX Hard-top Coupes.

I've always drooled over them as a kid, and began searching diligently 3 years ago. That search was interrupted by the news of cancer in the family roughly 2 years ago. (That family member is now in remission. Thank our lucky stars!)
The search began again in 2013, but was again interrupted by the possibility of lack of purchase-funds. Once again, the search picked up in Jan. of 2014.

Finally, and just by chance, in April (2014) I came across what I didn't even know existed. An *NA2* (3.2L/6spd) *hard-top* coupe. (I had been under the impression that all NA2 NSX's were Targa models.) While that is somewhat true, being that all NA2 coupes were specially ordered between 1997 and 2001, only 22 total exist between those model years. Only 15 of which, are manuals. Again, a round number of three total in Kaiser Silver for MY1998. ( http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Production_Numbers )

After that realization, I couldn't pass up the opportunity, and made the seller an offer immediately. (Which apparently beat other potential buyer's offers by a decent enough amount.)

Now, one month later, I am the proud owner of it, and couldn't be happier. I realize that many will hate/ostricize me for owning one, as if to say "that prick"... Be that as it may, know that I've worked, searched, suffered, and made many sacrifices to call it "my own".

Now, all that aside, be a nice guy/gal, and I might agree to letting you take it for spin. (No pun intended.) Might even let @CorSport drive it. ;)

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!

How long do you have to wait to drive it? Must be tough. One of my attainable dream car I'd hope to have one day.

Roughly 7 weeks. (Down from 52.)

The NA1's are still obtainable for the average individual. There are currently several for sale on AutoTrader in the $20k range. Obviously with over 100k miles. However, there are several testaments of 200k+ miles on NSXPrime, along with one of just over 350k miles. All of which still with acceptable compression pressures, and no F/I.

Timing belt, water pump, transmission snap ring (a recall was issued by HoA for the issue), and coolant hoses (there are 32 of them on the NSX), are the main points of concern when buying.

Even if one was found with a dead power unit, there is currently an NSXPrime member (Name: Velocitized) working on a J-series swap kit for the NSX. (New/Replacement C30/C32 motors are NOT cheap, in any sense of the word.)

Congrats again. It seems like the NSX has a Karcepts shift knob. I was going to get one, but it seemed too tall for me. :giggle:

I love it.

If you decide to change the shift knob out let me buy that one! That has always been my favorite, I REALLY want!

It's crazy to think that's a 16yr old car. Not many cars can hold up so well to time. Beautiful ride - congrats on your purchase

Just bought the car, and you're already attempting to persuade its part-out?

The wheels will be going at some point, however. ;)

Oh yeah. The Karcepts one does not have the collar.

Pshhhhhh, shift knobs are like t-shirts. You will have a collection in due time, hahaha!

:)

I've replaced the OEM shift knob in my FG2 three times now, and will continue to as they become worn. I admit, I bought a CTR knob prior to purchasing the NSX, which was intended to be used on it, as the pre-'05 OEM ones look horrible. Now the CTR one will probably be sold.

I have simple requirements for shift knobs:

- That they don't look like they were taken from an 80's family car
- That they fit my hand & shifting movements

That's it! I don't need gawdy, I need functional.

This is awesome! Congratulations on the car! Looks like it is in excellent shape and the mods appear minimal but functional. I can't wait to hear a review once you get to drive it. Also, are those LED strips I see in the fog light area?
