Look for older reliable cars with real low miles. In July '11, I found a ridiculously clean '99 Acura 2.3CL (auto) with 30,500 miles (carfax showed miles history). Put over 4k miles on it now and only did one oil change and a tranny fluid change at the dealership (Honda trannys are quirky). I paid $8,600 + TTL, then right after added an alarm and deck, sub, amp. Into the car total now ~$11,000 for a stupidly clean Acura with 35k miles. On the AcuraZine forum, I've had 3 offers to buy it from me... hahaha. Gems can be foundI'm going to see about driving one today/tomorrow. I think the fun factor might be going out the window and just trying to get something nicer. Being in the city now and shitty roads might be taking it's toll. I don't want a 6sp anymore with all the red lights and the 3rd gear has given me a "do not want!" feeling. I tend to keep cars for 4-6 years so I think having something that has lower miles/newer might be better in the long run. Budget is the bigest concern and having a newer/less miles car would aliviate some potential repair/maint. bills down the road.
I would like to wait for the ILX(a nicer/lux. 9th gen Si, IMO) and see how it does once it is out but then I tell myself that I won't be able to afford it.
I know the type of car that I would want but it just doesn't fit with the money I want/can spend but at the same time I don't want to be in the Si anymore.
what are your feelings about leasing (if you're not looking for something to mod out)...? A tsx is coming up as $299/month on a 3yr lease. I have no clue what kind of payment you're wanting to stay under though.. but if the tsx costs that, the ILX should be lower than that on lease.
